This package contains the Dell system BIOS update. BIOS is a firmware that is embedded on a small memory chip on the system board. It controls the keyboard, monitor, disk drives, and other devices. This update addresses the Intel security advisories INTEL-SA-00213 and INTEL-SA-00233. The security advisory is a statement when a product is impacted by a security vulnerability and a remedy is available.

- Fixed the issue where the TPM setting may be unexpectedly enabled after loading the Custom User Settings in BIOS.
- Fixed the issue where the Thunderbolt hard disk cannot be detected after setting Thunderbolt security level as No Security in BIOS setup menu.
- Fixed the issue where the system boots to USB device directly, bypassing the password stage when an admin password is set.
- Removed the Pre-Boot Intel RST Manager Optimized Defaults option.

Updating the BIOS from Windows

Note 1: Before updating the BIOS, ensure that you suspend BitLocker encryption on a BitLocker-enabled system. If it is not enabled on your system, you can ignore this step. For information about how to disable BitLocker, see How to Enable or Disable BitLocker with TPM in Windows at support.dell.com.
Note 2: Do not turn off the power or interrupt the BIOS update process during the update.

Download and Installation
1. Click Download File, to download the file.
2. Click Save to save the file to your hard drive.
3. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and double-click the file.
4. Click Yes to open the BIOS update utility.
5. Click Update to initiate the update process. A progress bar is displayed.
6. Click Restart to restart the system once the progress bar reaches 100%.
The update process initiates at the Dell logo and an update initiation message is displayed with a progress bar. After BIOS update finishes, system will auto reboot to take effect.

Updating the BIOS from the BIOS Boot Menu, independent of operating system

Note 1: Before updating the BIOS, ensure that you suspend BitLocker encryption on a BitLocker-enabled system. If it is not enabled on your system, you can ignore this step. For information about how to disable BitLocker, see How to Enable or Disable BitLocker with TPM in Windows at support.dell.com.
Note 2: Do not turn off the power or interrupt the BIOS update process during the update.

Download and Installation
1. Click Download File, to download the file.
2. Copy the downloaded file to a USB flash device. It does not need to be bootable.
3. Insert the USB flash device into any USB port.
4. Power on the system.
5. At the DELL logo screen, press F12 to access the one-time boot menu.
6. Select BIOS Flash Update in the Other Options section.
7. Click the "..." button to browse the USB flash device to locate the downloaded file.
8. Select the file and click Ok.
9. Confirm the Existing System BIOS Information and the BIOS Update Information are as expected.
10. Click Begin Flash Update.
11. Reviewing the Warning message and click Yes to proceed with the update.
12. The system should restat and show a Flash Progress bar on the Dell logo screen as the BIOS update is being performed.
13. The system restarts once again when the Flash update is complete.
