Avamar: Backup fails with error: Error 7922: Invalid expires input value expires=VALUE

Symptoms

A backup fails with error:
Error <7922>: Invalid expires input value (expires=<VALUE>)
 
For example:
Invalid expires input value (expires=1397523600) 
 
Error in the backup log:
2014-04-14 21:00:28 avtar Info <5900>: Workorder received (truncated):

The Backup is tagged as expired right away:

The error is:
2014-04-14 21:00:28 avtar Error <7922>: Invalid expires input value (expires=1397523600) 
2014-04-14 21:00:29 avexvss Error <13066>: Failed to process backup workorder.
2014-04-14 21:00:30 avexvss Error <13077>: Unable to complete backup.

Cause

Advanced Retention Policy has been set up with Days = "0"

When the backup starts the timestamp is created, since there is a policy with 'keep dailies for' = 0, it immediately marks the backup as expired and does not proceed further. 

 

Resolution

Correct the Advanced Retention Policy settings for 'keep dailies for' =  nonzero (for example 14 days, as per Avamar Best Practice.)
