Product Overview:

The Dell™ Storage MD1400, MD1420, and MD3060e direct-attached storage (DAS) enclosures are designed to provide server storage expansion for 12Gb/s SAS environments.

The solution is based on ether the Dell PowerEdge R630 or R730 Server platform to leverage ease of use, compatibility, and scalability.
These DSMS systems can be paired with DSMS storage enclosures DSMS 1400/1420/3060e for storage expandability.

  • The MD1400 is a 12-drive, 2U standard rack enclosure. It can scale up to 96 large form factor (LFF) hard drives in 16U with eight MD1400 enclosures that operate like a JBOD "just a bunch of disks" arrays.
  • The MD1420 is a 24 small form factor (SFF) drive, 2U standard rack enclosure. It can scale up to 192 hard drives in 16U with eight MD1400 enclosures that operate like a JBOD "just a bunch of disks" arrays.
  • The MD3060e Enclosure is a high-density server-attached-storage enclosure for bulk storage. It is a 4U 60-drive enclosure, uses a 6GB SAS 2.0 connection, and supports a maximum of 240 drives.
