PowerVault ML3 Robot Initialization Failure Due to Shipping Lock
Summary: The PowerVault ML3 fails to initialize if the shipping lock is not properly located. This causes the system not to boot with an Event 2065 or Event 2097.
Symptoms
Customers may notice that the ML3 fails to initialize at first with a Robot Initialization Failure message. The robot does move in the chassis and scans some slots, but it cannot scan the front slots in either magazine.
The robot cannot complete the movements to initialize if the shipping lock is floating between the lock and unlocked position. Sometimes the robot appears to scan the left and right sides of the chassis, but cannot scan the front slots in the left or right magazine.
From the library ticketlog.txt:
Event 2065 - Library startup process failed because of robotics initialization issue. Event 2097 - Mechanical reinitialization in the context of Robotics error recovery has failed.
Cause
Resolution
To resolve this issue, the operator should:
- Power off the ML3
- Gently move the robot away from the shipping lock.
- Move the lever on the shipping lock to the "unlocked" position.
- Once completed, power on the ML3
