Symptoms

During a replacement of a Director, the CMI logical links may fail to be restored.

Exposure:
All VMAX AFA (250F, 450F, 850F, and 950F) and PowerMax (2000 and 8000) Systems with fix 113511 loaded

Cause

This is a code issue. Fix 113511 was found to cause failures during the replacement of a Director in VMAX AFA and PowerMax systems.

The following Epacks at 5978.711.711 contain fix 113511 introducing the exposure and need for removal: 
  • 9636 (Cumulative)
  • 9656
  • 9642
  • 9647
  • 9646
  • 9638

Resolution

Fix 113511 was released in 5978.711.711 Cumulative Epack 9636 and removed in 5978.711.711 Cumulative Epack 9654.

If your system is exposed to this issue, a code upgrade will be required to remove, fix 113511.

If this issue is found during a Director replacement on VMAX AFA or PowerMax, then the Dell Support Center escalates for review and will later recommend a code upgrade to remove fix 113511.
