Symptoms

Windows Oracle backup fails with the error "ORA-01031: Insufficient privileges" when only SYSBACKUP privilege is granted to a user.

 

The avoracle log indicates that the user test is used to connect to a database:

Cause

This occurs due to a software glitch in the Avamar Windows avoracle plug-in.

 

Resolution

Upgrade the Avamar Server to version 19.8.100-83 or later. The fix is incorporated in Avamar 19.8 and later software releases.
