MFE TF SnapVX: Error Message ESNP018E: SNAP LINK Job Receiving a Parsing Error Using Four Hops

Summary: A SNAP LINK command with the REMOTE parameters and specifying four hops in the RAGROUP parameter fails with error message ESNP018E.

Symptoms

When issuing the LINK command with the REMOTE parameter, and specifying four hops in the RAGROUP parameter, the LINK command fails with the ESNP018E error message.   
                                     
For example:

     TARGET( SYMDV#(0002-0003))    -                         
     REMOTE (UNIT(gkpr) RAGROUP(hop1.hop2.hop3.hop4))   )
ESNP018E PARSE COMPLETED WITH ERRORS, RUN TERMINATED

Cause

This is due to a software issue.

Resolution

Workaround: If possible, reduce the number of hops to two, then the LINK command works.


Permanent Fix:

  • For Mainframe Enablers 10.0.0, the issue is addressed in the base product. It is available for download from Dell Online Support.
  • For Mainframe Enablers 8.5, Program Temporary Fix (PTF) SN85105 is available to address the issue. It is available for download from Dell Online Support.
  • For Mainframe Enablers 8.4, Program Temporary Fix (PTF) SN84116 is available to address the issue. It is available for download from Dell Online Support.
