Symptoms

EMCSNAP abends with a S0C4-4. The user added a new pair of PowerMax 8000 models PowerMaxOS 5978.711 but has an existing pair of the same models at the same code levels. This is an addition. The user also went from Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF)/A to SRDF/A MSC and added these to the SNAP VOLUME DIFF(YES) MODE(COPY) job. Mainframe Enablers (MFE) 10.0.0 is at base code SFA0001 and SNA0002.

Cause

ABENDS0C4-4 occurs when running the SNAP VOLUME command against two or more VMAX/PowerMax systems to issue a differential resnap.

Resolution

Workaround: Wait one hour before doing a resnap as that appears to run cleanly.
