PowerStore: Alert for Storage Resource Offline in 3.5.0.1 Due to checksum Issue

Symptoms

  • A storage object resource is offline and requires repair in order to bring it back online alert is raised (Event Code: 0x00200F02, alert text: "A storage resource requires recovery.")
  • This issue only affects PowerStoreOS 3.5.0.1.
  • There are additional conditions that may raise the alert 0x00200F02. See Dell article 000129532, PowerStore Alerts: Storage resources alerts for additional conditions.

 

Cause

PowerStoreOS 3.5.0.1 introduced a new internal enhancement, to perform checksum for some internal components. There is a software issue in the function used to compare the checksum. This issue can manifest itself upon various volume operations such as: Mapping a volume, Snapshots, Replication, migration and more.

 

Resolution

Workaround:
If this issue has been encountered, escalate to Dell Technical Support for assistance and remediation.

 

Fix:
This issue is fixed in PowerStoreOS 3.6.0 and 3.5.0.2. However, remediation steps may still be necessary after upgrading.
