Instructions
Dell Support Services must find out if extra capacity is required.
- If it is required, Services must do the following:
- Confirm the Customer name.
- Confirm whether the Current license is perpetual or has an end date.
This information can be retrieved from CloudLink > System > License page.
- Dell Support Services must find the delta between the current (broken) drive and the new drive. It is assumed that the capacity should be increased by delta * 3.
For example:
A 7.68 TB disk is to be used to cover a 3.84TB disk that failed.
The delta: 7.68 TB - 3.84 TB = 3.84 TB - The capacity increase (extra capacity license size): 3.84 TB * 3 = 11.52 TB
A 7.68 TB disk is to be used to cover a 3.84TB disk that failed.
The delta: 7.68 TB - 3.84 TB = 3.84 TB - The capacity increase (extra capacity license size): 3.84 TB * 3 = 11.52 TB
- Dell Support Services must contact the Licensing team for an extra capacity license for the customer name, delta * 3 capacity, and perpetual or end date (as found).
- Once the extra capacity is provided, it is applied to the CloudLink cluster (use the Upload License button, as seen in the screenshot).
- Dell Support Services can now replace the drive.
Note: This is a temporary workaround. The permanent solution is planned to be changed in a later version of the code where PowerFlex Manager controls the licensing. A code change is expected in a later version.
