PowerStore: Frequent Alerts for 0x0030e202 or 0x0030de02

Symptoms

PowerStore appliance is generating frequent alerts for;

(0x0030E202) Bus 5 enclosure 0 controller side B speed health was changed from PORT_RATE_TOO_LOW to PORT_RATE_NORMAL.

OR

0x0030de02 Bus 5 enclosure 1 controller side B speed health was changed from PORT_RATE_TOO_LOW to PORT_RATE_NORMAL

The alerts for the port speed problem are transient, and auto recover without any intervention.

No other issues are identified with the appliance.

svc_health_check runs clean, and no errors are reported.

Cause

These port speed alerts are the result of a polling issue. A query sent to the NVMe expansion enclosures for information was not received in time resulting in the alert.

Resolution

Workaround:
There is no workaround available to reduce these alerts. They are benign alerts and can be safely ignored.

Fix:
This issue is addressed in PowerStoreOS release 3.6.1.0 and later.
