Symptoms
Precision 7875 Tower may not detect SD cards when inserted. The issue occurs when it is configured with a Shimada Peak CPU, and when BIOS 2.2.1, 2.3.1, 2.4.0, or 2.5.0 is installed.
Affected Configuration:
- Precision 7875 Tower Configured with a Shimada Peak CPU
Affected BIOS Versions:
- 2.2.1
- 2.3.1
- 2.4.0
- 2.5.0
Cause
From BIOS version 2.2.1 up to 2.5.0, the SD card may not be ready when the BIOS performs the handshaking process. Due to transitioning from Storm Peak to Shimada Peak CPU series, a new bus assignment is necessary for SD card access. This affects all Shimada Peak CPU configurations.
Resolution
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following:
- Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery.
- Ensure that power remains connected to the desktop.
Updating the BIOS to version 02.06.01 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide.
