Instructions
If a VxRail requests a datastore creation on Data Domain (DD), it is a Network File System (NFS) share request.
Once the NFS share has been created on DD, it can then be mounted on the Elastic Sky X (ESX). VxRail can then use it to move Virtual Machines (VMs) or VM disk files from other datastores.
Additional Information
- VMware supports both Virtual Machine File System (VMFS) and NFS for datastore.
- Both the datastores support vMotion, which essentially is a feature to move VMs from one host to another.
- There is little difference between VMFS and NFS
- NFS is file-level
- VMFS is a block-level file
