  7. Disable the file system and delete the cloud unit.
Note: Due to enhanced security hardening in newer code levels, deleting a cloud unit now needs security user credentials and security authorization enabled. Refer to "Additional Info" section of this article.
    sysadmin@datadomain# cloud unit del ecs-temp-ct
This command requires authorization by a user having a 'security' role.
Please present credentials for such a user below.
            Username: secofficer
            Password:
    Please enter sysadmin password:

This command irrevocably destroys all data
     in the cloud unit "ecs-temp-ct".
Are you sure? (yes|no) [no]: yes
     ok, proceeding.
    Destroying cloud unit "ecs-temp-ct"
Cloud unit 'ecs-temp-ct' deleted. The data in the cloud will be deleted asynchronously on the filesystem startup.
  8. After a filesystem restart, the cloud unit status will change to "Delete-Pending". It may take a while to fully remove the unit.
    sysadmin@datadomain# filesys enable
    Please wait.............
    The filesystem is now enabled.

    sysadmin@datadomain# cloud unit list

Troubleshooting

Security officer

sysadmin@datadomain# cloud unit del ecs-temp-ct
**** Security officer authorizations must be enabled.
  1. Verify if a security user exists using the command user show list.
  2. If no security user exists, create one.
  3. Log in to a duplicate session using security credentials and enable security authorization with the command authorization policy set security-officer enabled.
  4. Return to the DD CLI with sysadmin credentials and continue the deletion process.
If the deletion still fails with "This command is not allowed with current security configuration," one or more of the following may apply:
  • Security officer account has been created within 24 BUSINESS hours (this can mean 5 days if weekend is included)
  • System time has been changed within 24 BUSINESS hours
  • Alert notify-list was changed within 24 BUSINESS hours

If this is the case, you must wait until this period has ended. There is no way around this.

Delete-pending

Fully deleting the cloud unit may take a while, up to a day or more. If the cloud unit is stuck in "Delete-pending" state for an excessively long time, data may have been incorrectly deleted. Refer to this article for resolution.
