Dell Unity: Replication Failure: "Failed To Validate (0x840c)"

Symptoms
Customer tries to setup a synchronous replication session.
After creating the synchronous replication management ports and the remote system connection, the "Verify and Update" operation fails.
The error message is:
Failed To Validate (0x840c)
Cause
The synchronous replication management interfaces use the same physical link as the Unisphere management interfaces.
Customer used a switch between the Unity systems that only allowed two MAC addresses per port.
So the Unisphere management connection plus one of the SRM connections could connect to the remote side.
However additional connections were not allowed.
Resolution
Use a network switch without this limitation.
Or modify the switch properties to allow more than two MAC addresses per physical port.
