Install and set up a Rack server using sliding or static rails

Use sliding rails to mount servers in a rack if you want to work on the server hardware, even when another server is mounted directly above. Use static rails for mounting servers in a rack if you don't plan to move them after installation.

Your system may support one or more of the rail solutions and components:
  • Sliding Rails
  • Static Rails
  • Combo Rails
  • Cable Management Arm
  • Strain Relief Bar
See the Rack Compatibility Matrix for your product rail solution. Also see the PowerEdge Rack and Tower Product Documentation.

To install or remove a BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card from the 17G server, see the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS M.2 NVMe SSD Card Installation and Replacement Tech Sheet.

Convert a Tower server to a Rack server

You can mount a PowerEdge tower system in a rack which requires using a tower-to-rack conversion kit. For more information see the PowerEdge T640 Installation and Service Manual .
