Cause
The time required to find a valid base per volume increases throughout the backup, with the volumes toward the end taking ~3-4 min. with 300 volumes in the dataset, the top level of each backup is most certainly a composite tree of direlems, and it needs to search the composite tree looking for a match of the volume name (30 times, since it will try to find the volume in the 30 most recent backups). During that time, other avndmp threads (such as those trying to write comment files for completed volumes) are blocked from running.
Resolution
Workaround:
Set in "avndmp.cmd" file:
--limit-incremental-search=10
Set in "avndmp.cmd" file:
