The Intel 7265 or 8260 wireless cards may experience intermittent issues with network connectivity.

This issue occurs when using older Intel 7265 or 8260 wireless driver versions. To resolve this issue update to the latest wireless driver using Dell Support / Drivers & Downloads or DownloadCenter.Intel.comSLN299232_en_US__3iC_External_Link_BD_v1.

Resolution

Update driver from Dell.com/Support

  1. Go to Dell Support / Drivers & Downloads, enter your Service Tag or Express Service Code under Product support, then click or tap Submit.
  2. Click or tap Drivers and downloads, click or tap Change OS next to View all available updates for…, and click or tap to select Windows 10, 64-bit.
  3. Click or tap the arrow to expand the Network category, locate the newest Intel 7265 or 8260 driver version, and click or tap Download File to download the driver.
  4. Double-click or double-tap the downloaded driver, and follow the on-screen prompts to Extract the files to your desktop.
  5. Launch Device Manager by searching for devmgmt.msc on the Windows 7 / 10 Start Menu or Windows 8 / 8.1 Start Screen, then clicking or tapping devmgmt.msc in the list.
  6. Expand the Network adapters category, right-click or tap-hold Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 or Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 in the list, and click or tap Update Driver Software…
  7. Click or tap Browse my computer for driver software, click or tap Browse, and locate the extracted files.
  8. Click or tap the production folder, click or tap the folder for the Windows version you have installed, and click or tap OK.
  9. Click or tap Next, wait for the driver to be updated, and click or tap Close.
NOTE:The Windows 10, 64-bit driver is usable on Windows 7 and 8/8.1, 64-bit versions.
NOTE:Dell does not provide Windows 7 or 8/8.1, 32-bit driver version or Windows 10, 32-bit driver version at this time. This article will be updated when they become available, though no estimated date has been set for this driver release.

Update driver from DownloadCenter.Intel.com

  1. Go to DownloadCenter.Intel.comSLN299232_en_US__8iC_External_Link_BD_v1, and search for 7265 or 8260 in the Search downloads field.
  2. Use the dropdown to change Any Operating System to your Windows OS version.
  3. Click or tap the link for the latest driver version available, and click or tap the s32 or s64 file based on your version of Windows to download the driver.
  4. Launch the file and follow the on-screen prompts to install the newest driver version.
