Symptoms

On creating a SMB share named 'Home' on any FS in Unity, Error "Failed: The specified SMB share could not be created. (Error Code:0x900a213)" had appeared.

Cause

A special share name, HOME, is reserved for the home directory feature which is provided by the Home Directory snap-in,  the single share, called HOME, is a share to which all users connect. You do not have to create individual shares for each user. This is done when Home Directory feature is enabled.

Resolution

Change the name of the SMB share.

A workaround, is to disable the home directory feature using EMC unity NAS server management tool.

Here is a link to download  the tool: https://download.emc.com/downloads/DL48750_Unity-and-VNX-FileCifsMgmt.exe-8.1.9.157.exe?source=OLS

Additional Information

Please note that the Home directory feature is ENABLED by default on newly created NAS Server.
