RecoverPoint: Unity Splitter Uncontrollable
Summary: Unity Splitter Uncontrollable
Symptoms
- Unity Splitter uncontrollable showing uncontrollable in the RecoverPoint UI
- Consistency Group in error state no source copy in the Consistency Group
- DRU (data replication unavailable)
Summary:
If RecoverPoint Appliance (RPA) has not been able to communicate with one of the splitters for the past five minutes, Consistency Group transfer pauses.
This is done to ensure consistency between the copy and production.
When the consistency groups restart transfer after the communication is reestablished, an initialization or full sweep will follow, depending on the reason for the miscommunication.

Cause
Resolution
Permanent Fix:
Upgrade to Unity OE 4.1.1 which contains the fix for Kdriver crash and uncontrollable state.
Workaround:
An SP reboot could be used to clear this condition.
If the Unity array has NAS servers or file system, a short outage can occur while the NAS servers failover and failback during SP reboots.
If SP cannot be rebooted and the RecoverPoint splitter is uncontrollable, contact Dell Technical Support, and quote this knowledge base article ID.
