The following conditions, events or system behaviors may be observed with this issue:
- When attempting to add the Cisco switch in the SNMP Device Discovery module, the discovery will timeout even after increasing the timeout value.
- SNMP v1/2c is being used for SRM discovery of Cisco switch.
- The following warning message is seen in the Generic SNMP collecting logs:
WARNING -- [2017-05-08 13:59:49 EDT] -- AbstractExecuteSnmpCommand::executeSynchronous(): Timeout occurred while performing snmpget .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0 command on host [switchIP] p:161
Cause
Access control list enabled on the switches. Explicit permission was not given for the IP address of the SNMP collector host to allow access using SNMP
Resolution
In one environment where the issue was encountered, customer updated the switch access control list to allow the SNMP collector to access the switch over SNMP
