PowerFlex: How to Reboot a PowerFlex Node

Instructions
Note: Service Mode may be used instead of Maintenance Mode, which puts each node into the proper maintenance mode, meaning SDS node from PFMP and SDC from vCenter.
MDM role switching is Not part of the Service Mode and must be done separately. See the PowerFlex Administration Guide section Enter and exit service mode.

Storage Only (SO) Nodes - SDSs
- Ensure that the SDS is not a Primary MDM
- If SDS is the Primary MDM, switch node role to be secondary MDM. See Dell article PowerFlex 4.X: How to Switch MDM Ownership Using Command Line.
- Only if the SDS is not the Primary MDM, place the node into Instant Maintenance Mode (IMM)\Protected Maintenance Mode (PMM) from PowerFlex Manager then reboot the node from iDRAC See PowerFlex Administration Guide section Protected Maintenance Mode.
Compute Only (CO) Nodes - SDCs
- Put the CO node into maintenance mode from vCenter and then reboot the node from iDRAC See Broadcom article Place an ESXi Host in Maintenance Mode in the VMware Host Client (External Link)
Hyperconverged Node (HCI) - SDS and SDC
- Put the node into maintenance mode from PowerFlex Manager, follow the same steps for SDS above.
- Put the node into maintenance mode from vCenter, follow the same steps for SDC above.
Management Node (MVM)

Storage Data Replicator (SDR)
- Put SDR in Maintenance Mode (MM) and reboot from iDRAC. See the Dell PowerFlex 4.5.x and PowerFlex Manager 4.6.x Administration Guide section Enter SDR into maintenance mode.
