Isilon: How to count the number of LINs files and directories in the Isilon File System

Procedure

 

Use the lincount job engine to traverse and count the LINs in the /ifs directory:

  1. To start the lincount job engine, run the following command:
     
    isi job start lincount


     
  2. While the lincount job is running, monitor its status by running the following command:
     
    isi job status



     
  3. After the lincount job stops running, you can process its history:
     
    isi job history --job=lincount -v



     
  4. Search the lincount job history for the number of LINs that were traversed:
     
    isi job history --job=lincount -v | grep LINs



    Output similar to the following is displayed:
     
    LINs traversed: 1132

    In this example, the /ifs directory has 1132 LINs, which is the same as 1132 files and directories in the /ifs directory.
