How to reset a forgotten BIOS password on Data Domain DD9910, DD9410, or DD6410 platforms.
Applies to:
- PowerProtect Data Domain models: DD9910, DD9410, or DD6410
- All DDOS software versions
Instructions:
- Power off the system and then disconnect it from power.
- Remove the system cover.
- Move the jumper (PWRD_EN) on the system board from pins 2 and 4 to pins 4 and 6.
- Replace the system cover.
NOTE: The existing password is not disabled (erased) until the system boots with the jumper on pins 4 and 6. However before assigning a new BIOS password, move the jumper back to pins 2 and 4.
NOTE: If you assign a new system or setup password with the jumper on pins 4 and 6, the system disables the new password the next time it boots.
- Connect the system to the power outlet, and then power on and allow the system to boot.
- Power off the system.
- Remove the rear system cover.
- Move the jumper on the system board from pins 4 and 6 to pins 2 and 4.
- Replace the system cover.
- Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the power outlet, and then power on the system.
- A new password can now be assigned.
- Access BIOS (F2): System Setup Main Menu > System BIOS > System Security
- Password Status is set to Unlocked.
- System Password field, type your new password, press Enter, reenter new password to confirm, and then click OK.
- Press Esc to return to the System BIOS screen. Press Esc again.
- A message prompts you to Save the changes
