Symptoms
The NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) integration is configured with the vProxy Appliance. An FLR of a Linux VM is unable to mount the file systems during recovery, indicating the logical volume manager (LVM) version must be updated. The NetWorker Management Consoles (NMC) mount results output and FLR restore log show:
159373:nsrvproxy_flr: vProxy Log: YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS ERROR: [BUILD] Could not mount VMDKs [[EMC-FLR-[MY_VM_NAME]-1500988474] vm-8246-disk-key-2000.vmdk] onto VM '[MY_VM_NAME]' (vm-8246) filesystems: [Unable to mount [0/1/0]: System package 'lvm2' version 2.02.117 or later is required (found 'lvm2-2.02.98-0.42.3').]
The "lvm version" command output on the target virtual machine shows:
MY_VM_NAME:~ # lvm version
LVM version: 2.02.98(2) (2012-10-15)
Library version: 1.03.01 (2011-10-15)
Driver version: 4.25.0

Cause
As per the error message and the "
lvm version" command output, the target VM includes an lvm2 RPM version that is lower than the supported 2.02.117 version.

Resolution
NOTE: LVM2 2.02.117 was part of Red Hat 7.0 and SLES 12 SP1. Newer Linux operating systems are expected to include LVM2 2.02.130 (or later), by default. It is unlikely to encounter this issue on any operating system currently supported by its distributer. The NetWorker Compatibility Matrix details Operating Systems supported for vProxy FLR: E-Lab Interoperability Navigator.
If the Linux VM uses an older LVM version, consult the system administrator. Upgrade the required dependencies to enable NVP FLR.
Workarounds:
- Perform an Image Restore of the VM and copy the required data off the recovered VM to the source VM.
- Perform an agentless FLR: NVP vProxy: Perform VM FLR without vProxy FLR Agent
