Symptoms

This alert pertains to the SC4020 Front End SAS models. It contains specific information related to system features and/or functionality.

Alert:

SC4020 Front End SAS models that were originally deployed with SCOS version 6.7 are required to be upgraded to SCOS version 7.1 in order for the system to be able to create and utilize SAS front end fault domains. SC4020 systems that were shipped with SCOS version 6.7 have a failover attribute disabled by default which will prevent a successful failover.  This attribute remains disabled after upgrading to SCOS version 7.1. There is not a way to determine if this attribute is enabled or disabled via Dell Storage Manager.

Affected versions:

SC4020 Front End SAS models that were shipped from the factory with SCOS version 6.7 only.  SC4020 systems that were shipped from the factory with SCOS version 7.1 are not affected.  If you are unsure of the SCOS version that was originally applied, contact Dell Technical Support.
