PowerStore: Custom security.evt path reverts to default after NAS Server reboot or failover

Summary: Starting with PowerStore version 3.0, custom paths for security and system logs can be configured through the NAS Server Registry. If the parameter cifs.userDefinedLogFiles remains at its default value of 1, the system resets log paths to their default location after a reboot or failover. ...

Symptoms

The configured custom path is reset to a different location, and logs are not updated in the originally specified directory.

Cause

Starting from PowerStore v. 3.0, custom log paths can be set using the NAS Server Registry. By default, the parameter cifs.userDefinedLogFiles is set to 1 to prevent CIFS outages that may occur if incorrect paths are specified. When this parameter remains at its default value, the system automatically resets log file paths to their default locations (for example, /.etc/security.evt).

If a custom path (for example, /filesystem/audits/ - the folder must be created before use) is configured while this parameter is still set to 1, the system will revert to the default path after a reboot or failover.

This occurs because the custom path is not accessible during the boot process. The file system mounts only after the NAS container restarts, causing the system to fall back to the default location.
