Instructions

Dell EMC takes product quality and data availability very seriously. We believe it is part of Dell EMC s value proposition to our customers to keep your systems up to date with current quality enhancements.

Dell EMC is providing special assistance with the upgrade from CloudBoost 2.x to version 18.1.  Dell EMC will schedule an appointment to receive assistance with this upgrade.

What changes are included in CloudBoost 18.1?

CloudBoost is moving off of the EMC Cloud Portal and onto a local management portal built into each CloudBoost appliance.

Why should I upgrade to CloudBoost 18.1?

The EMC Cloud Portal service will be discontinued July 31, 2019. You will not be able to manage CloudBoost and migration services will be disrupted. CloudBoost Appliances not migrated to the version 18.1 with embedded management will lose access to secret keys and the ability to perform a disaster recovery. To retain a supported configuration, this upgrade is mandatory.

CloudBoost 18.1 provides embedded management of CloudBoost, eliminating the need for registration and configuration within the EMC Cloud Portal. This allows CloudBoost to be better suited for sites limiting outbound communication.

In addition, CloudBoost 18.1 provides many cumulative fixes, an improved experience by limiting port requirements, and stability. This leads to an improved user experience and better performing/stable CloudBoost appliance.

Why is Dell EMC providing assistance with this upgrade?

The existing EMC Cloud Portal will be discontinued July 31, 2019. Because of the change from the EMC Cloud Portal to an embedded management portal, this upgrade is more involved and requires preparation and additional tools. To ensure a seamless migration and minimize any major disruptions, we will assist in the migration to the embedded management portal.

What services will be included with this special assistance?

  1. Services will be provided for migrating off of the physical CloudBoost appliance (CB100) and onto the virtual edition of CloudBoost.
  2. Services will be provided for upgrading CloudBoost from version 2.x (includes all versions between 2.0.2 - 2.2.3) to CloudBoost 18.1. This includes migration of the CloudBoost configuration and associated metadata.
  3. Prior integration with NetWorker and your cloud store will be validated prior to completion.

How do I prepare for this upgrade?

Please follow instructions found in KB: How to Prepare Upgrade for CloudBoost 18.1
