- Symptom Code: EVT-STORAGE-00003
- Intermittent temperature alerts received from attached storage enclosures (ES40 or DS60)
Example of the posted Alert:

Event Id: EVT-STORAGE-00003 Event Message: Disk temperature is moderately high. Object: Enclosure=X:Disk=XX:Threshold(C)=40 Additional Information: EnclosureSerialNumber=xxxxxxxx:DiskSerialNumber=xxxxxx:Temperature(C)=40 Event description: The disk temperature has exceeded the specified threshold. If the temperature continues to rise, the system may fail or shut down.
Cause
The alert is triggered when the disk reaches its reference temperature as reported by the drive’s log page (0xD).
- 8TB drive firmware reports a reference temperature of 40°C, while older drives report 60°C+.
- DS60 LCCs are programmed with a target temperature of 40°C, causing intermittent alerts for drives in the rear of the enclosure.
Resolution
Fixed:
- A permanent fix has been applied to DDOS >=7.7.x
- The disk threshold is set to 38
- This can be confirmed in the system Autosupport
- Search for the entries:
config.ssm_encl.cayenne_adpc_target_tempconfig.ssm_encl.ancho_adpc_target_temp

Work-around or additional Troubleshooting:
If the issue persists:
- Check system environment, fans, airflow and so on
- Refer to KB: Data Domain: Disk Drives Overheating
- OR, if the disk temperature thresholds must be set (to 38), contact Technical Support.
- Note: Changing the disk temperature threshold in the system registry requires a reboot.
