Dell Technologies recommends running Data Domain operating system upgrades with the assistance of article Data Domain and DDVE: How to Upgrade the Data Domain Operating System and Software Release Notes.
Dell has a team of software update experts available to run these upgrades remotely. This service is available to customers with ProSupport Plus, ProSupport Mission Critical, and Premium service levels. Use Dell's My Service 360 to determine if you are eligible for this upgrade assistance. If you are eligible for upgrade assistance and want to schedule an upgrade run by Dell Technologies, you may open a Service Request.
Long-Term Support (LTS) Releases have unique characteristics different from the latest feature releases. To learn more about LTS, see: Dell Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) LTS Release Support Customer Summary (Log in as a registered Dell Support user may be required to view this article)
- Downgrading DDOS is not supported on PowerProtect DD platforms. Customers using earlier versions can upgrade to any of the higher Long-Term Support (LTS) versions or the latest feature release.
- All required software and firmware (FW) for PowerProtect Data Domain systems are bundled into DDOS software release packages.
No component level FW upgrades (such as BIOS, Disk, iDRAC, Network, so forth) are to be applied to the unit independent of a DDOS upgrade unless explicitly recommended by Data Domain Engineering (by a DD Engineering ticket). - For DDVE deployed on Cloud - Active tier on object store (ATOS), use the same DDOS RPM file for code upgrades as used for hardware models. Use the DDOS download links below instead of the DDVE link for the upgrade.

Upgrade Considerations:
- Upgrading between families may have product compatibility considerations. A careful review of product compatibility should precede any upgrade to a new release family. Check the Data Domain Compatibility Matrix (log in may be required to view document) before proceeding.
