Symptoms

Users should see the make and model of the monitor in Windows Color Management. Users may notice that Windows Color Management shows one or more of their external monitors as Generic Monitor.
Cause
Windows installs a generic display driver for plug and play monitors. The monitor is then listed as Generic Plug and Play Monitor in the color management window instead of the proper monitor.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, follow these steps.
- Uninstall the generic monitor driver from the Device Manager and restart the computer.
If the issue persists, continue to step 2. - Go to the monitor support site and download the monitor driver.
- Go to Device Manager and select upgrade/update driver
- Go to the file location of the driver, then install the driver.
Once resolved, the Windows Color Management window should show the appropriate monitor connected along with the associated color profiles.
