Avamar: How to rename a Cloud Tier which is integrated with Avamar

Summary: This article provides the steps required to rename the Cloud Tier on a Data Domain managed by Avamar.

Instructions

Data Domain (DD) does not support renaming a Cloud Tier. Instead, the existing cloud tier must be deleted and a cloud tier created (with a new name).

Warning: Backups are unavailable once the cloud tier is deleted. Ensure that all backups are recalled or expired prior to deleting the cloud tier.
 
 

Once the new cloud tier has been created:

Log in to the Avamar UI (Management Console Server (MCS) Java or Web Interface UI (AUI)

From the MCS Java UI:
1. From the server tab, select the Data Domain.
2. Select Action, Edit Data Domain System.
3. Click the Tiering Tab.
4. Clear the Enable Cloud Tier checkbox.
5. Click OK. 
6. Once updated, select the Data Domain again.
7. Select Action, Edit Data Domain System. 
8. Click the Tiering Tab.
9. Select Enable Cloud tier.
10. Select the Cloud Unit.
11. Click OK.

From the AUI:
1. Select System from the Administration heading.
2. Select the Data Domain tab.
3. Select the Data Domain.
4. Click Edit.
5. Confirm the DDboost User Name, and enter the password twice (Password and Verify Password).
6. Clear User certificate authentication for REST communication.
7. Click Validate,
8. Click Next.
9. Click Next in the SNMP settings.
10. Select the Enable Cloud Tier checkbox.
11. Click Finish,
12. Once Updated, select the Data Domain again.
13. Click Edit.
14. Confirm the DDboost User Name, and enter the password twice (Password and Verify Password)
15. Clear User certificate authentication for REST communication.
16. Click Validate.
17. Click Next.
18. Click Next in the SNMP settings.
19. Select the Enable Cloud Tier checkbox.
20. Select the Cloud Unit.
21. Click Finish.
