Instructions

This applies to all DLm Systems. The Disk Library for Mainframe (DLm) serial number is:     
  • Used as the main identifier for Support and Service Request creation
  • Used as the main point of access for gaining SRS access to provide remote support, including back-end storage
  • Physically printed on a label attached to the rear of the unit
  • Retrieved via standard system interfaces - DLm CLI (SSH) or DLm Console (Web-GUI)

How to retrieve the DLm Serial Number:    

From DLm CLI:     
  1. Establish a connection to the DLm unit - serial, KVM or SSH
  2. Log in to the DLm Management unit using suitable credentials
  3. Enter the command: 
cat /var/log/psnt.txt

From DLmConsole (Web-GUI):     
  1. Point a web browser to the IP address or hostname of the DLm Management VTE
  2. Log in to the DLm using suitable credentials
  3. Click on the "Status" tab, then the subtab "versions"
  4. The DLm serial number is shown

Physical Inspection:     
The Serial Number is located on the rear of the DLm chassis. Exercise caution when moving cables to view the serial number; cables should not be removed while the system is running.
