Locating the Dell service tag on the hardware chassis
Service tag location on 2U enclosure hardware
The U refers to rack unit height (1.75 inches or 44.45mm).
PowerVault ME4012, ME412, ME4024 and ME424 are 2U enclosures, the service tag can be found on a luggage tag at the front of the array that may be pulled out to view.

Service tag location on 5U enclosure hardware
PowerVault ME4084 and ME484 are 5U models, the service tag can be found at the rear of the chassis, or the label can be found on the inside right side of the top drawer when opened.

Using PowerVault Manager
In PowerVault Manager, hover the mouse cursor over Version on the header bar until the popup dialog box appears.
The 7 digit alpha-numeric Service Tag can be read from the System Information popup dialog box that appears.

Using the Command Line Interface (CLI)
# show service-tag-info
