Symptoms

After upgrading to DD OS 8.6, the firmware on NICs such as Mellanox ConnectX-5 and Intel XXV710 is up to date, but the CLI command ‘enclosure show io-cards’ may display an incorrect firmware version.

This issue is observed only after the initial system upgrade to DD OS 8.6.

Cause

system upgrade to DD OS 8.6

Resolution

The issue can be resolved by performing a system reboot.

If a reboot is not feasible, a workaround is to run the command ‘system firmware show all’, which consistently displays the correct firmware version.

Additionally, the NIC firmware mismatch alert EVT-NETM-00021 has been implemented to help identify actual firmware issues.

If this alert is not active and the ‘system firmware show all’ command shows the correct versions, The issue encountered is benign and does not reflect a real firmware mismatch. However, if the alert is active or the command shows incorrect versions, then a genuine firmware issue may be present and should be properly addressed.
