Dell Unity ondersteunt [Network File System (NFS)] NFSv3 tot en met NFSv4.1. NFS kan per NAS-server worden ingeschakeld, waardoor alleen het NFSv3-protocol wordt ingeschakeld. Na het inschakelen van NFSv3 hebben beheerders de mogelijkheid om extra opties in te schakelen, zoals vVols, NFSv4 en Secure NFS. Daarna, bij het maken van een NFS-bestandssysteem en delen, kan de standaard hosttoegang ook worden ingesteld op shareniveau met uitzonderingen die zijn gedefinieerd voor specifieke hosts.

 

In UnityOS 4.4 en lager moet NFSv3 worden ingeschakeld voordat NFSv4 kan worden ingeschakeld. UnityOS 4.5 voegt de mogelijkheid toe om NFSv3 of NFSv4 onafhankelijk in te schakelen. Dit is handig voor klanten die alleen NFSv4 gebruiken en het NFSv3-protocol uitgeschakeld willen laten. NFSv4 wordt niet ondersteund met vVols.
