Summary: IsiFw_Package will not complete install or uninstall and appears to stop responding due to /var space.

Symptoms

Node firmware may show these messages while uninstalling the patch in the /var/log/messages.
isi_upgrade_agent_d: Failed to unpack patch file /var/patch/catalog/<hash value>

The patch uninstall will sit in uninstalling and not complete.

The patch to be uninstalled will never complete and continue to uninstall.

Cause

One issue that may arise is, there is not enough space under /var and thus it will continually try. Once the capacity is lowered the uninstall completes.

Resolution

Check the following directories for any messages on all nodes.
/tmp/isi_pkg_outcmderr
/tmp/isi_pkg_outcmdck1

You see something like this below if the issue is present. Conduct troubleshooting on the capacity of /var for that node. Reduce the space in /var to allow to patch the to be removed.

 No space left on device
