PowerStore: System Check detects unnecessary de-stages

Summary: The System Check detects if there are unnecessary de-stages, which may lead to excessive drive wear.

Symptoms

If the System Check detects the excessive wear issue, the following error message is displayed: "Possible issue causing excessive wear on drives is detected. (KB#000220203)"

When detected by the service script svc_health_check:

Cause

The system check detects the issue of KB 000206257 PowerStore: NVMe SSD may wear faster due to increased write amplification.

The issue is resolved in 3.6 and later.

Resolution

If the issue is detected, upgrade to 3.6 or later.
If upgrade to 3.6 cannot be performed in the near future, contact technical support for assistance. Reference this KB Article for expedited handling. A script can be run to remedy the excessive drive wear from occurring in the future.
