Symptoms

Files created by some MacOS applications, such as MS Office or Adobe, appear hidden when saved to an SMB share on the PowerStore appliance.

Cause

Some applications running on MacOS use SetInfo to remove the temporary hidden file attribute via the ADS (Alternate Data Stream) instead of the primary file when files are created/saved to an SMB share.  On PowerStore, when SetInfo is used against the ADS of a file to remove the hidden flag, the hidden flag remains enabled on the file itself.

Resolution

Workaround:
Disable Oplocks on the file system from the PowerStore Manager GUI.
Note: this workaround may cause performance issue on some applications such as Matlab.
Fix:
A hotfix for this issue has been included in PowerStore OS 3.2.1.1-2206186.
Contact Dell Technical Support to obtain the hotfix or if assistance is required disabling Oplocks and reference this article.
