Symptoms

Modification of authc_config password policy requirements fail with error 
"Error executing command. Failure: I/O error on POST request for "https://localhost:9090/auth-server/api/v1/sec/authenticate": Certificate for doesn't match any of the subject alternative names"

Command: 
authc_config -u administrator -p "password" -e add-option -D option-name=PasswordMinLengthCharacters -D option-value=12



Error: 
"Error executing command. Failure: I/O error on POST request for "https://localhost:9090/auth-server/api/v1/sec/authenticate": Certificate for doesn't match any of the subject alternative names: []; nested exception is javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: Certificate for doesn't match any of the subject alternative names: [] Invalid TrustStore. Try copying key "keystore.password" and its value from authc-server-app.properties to authc-cli-app.properties or providing truststore password(-Djavax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword="Password") as JVM Parameter.""

Cause

The NetWorker authc server's authc-cli-app.properties file has entry: 
authc_config -u administrator -p "password" -e add-option -D option-name=PasswordMinLengthCharacters -D option-value=12

Linux: /opt/nsr/authc-server/conf/authc-cli-app.properties
Windows: ..\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\authc-server\conf\authc-cli-app.properties

Resolution

Change the value of admin_service_default_url in the authc-cli-app.properties file from localhost to the FQDN of the server.
 
Rerun the authc command to change password minimum character length: 
 
e.g:  
authc_config -u administrator -p "password" -e add-option -D option-name=PasswordMinLengthCharacters -D option-value=12
