AppSync: Time taken to run a Repurpose Refresh increased after adding a new Source LUN.

Symptoms
A new lun was added to the application AppSync is replicating.
After adding a new XtremIO LUN to the production database, the user noticed the time taken to complete a 2nd Generation Repurpose Refresh almost doubled.
The event logs show that new snapshots are being created after the LUN was added, instead of refreshing the existing snapshots.

Refreshed snapshot-set SnapShotSet.bck.1586054062073 to snapshot-set SnapShotSet.bck.1586657669639 using the snapshot-set SnapShotSet.bck.1586542053469 on XtremIO CKM0012345.
After adding the new LUN:
Created snapshot-set SnapshotSet.1589724595483 using the snapshot-set SnapshotSet.1589566798857 on XtremIO CKM0012345.
Cause
The user had not placed the new LUN into the XIO Consistency Group along with the other source LUNs.
This meant that AppSync was no longer able to refresh the existing snap, but had to create new ones, which increased the time taken to complete the refresh.

Resolution
After adding new LUNs to a source Database / Filesystem, but before running a Repurpose Refresh, ensure that all new LUNs are added to the XtremIO Consistency Group that contains the existing source LUNs.
This will ensure that AppSync uses the faster Refresh Workflow.
NOTE: If the new source LUN is added to the Consistency Group after a Repurpose Refresh has already been run with the LUN outside the Consistency Group, then a hotfix is required for successful refresh.
AppSync Engineering have released a hotfix for this scenario. Please contact Dell EMC Technical Support to obtain this hotfix.
This will ensure that AppSync uses the faster Refresh Workflow.
