PowerStore Alerts: Software Component Incompatible after OS Upgrade

Symptoms

Alert ID NDU_SOFTWARE_COMPONENT_STATUS_INCOMPATIBLE
Alert Text PowerStore %(package_type) component may be incompatible with the installed OS.
Error Code 0x01500701
  1. Customers see PowerStore software component incompatible alerts for each out-of-date component.
  2. This indicates that the previously installed software component identified by the alert, is now incompatible with the installed PowerStoreOS.

Cause

PowerStore software components including Health Check, Language Pack, and Disk Firmware packages are not upgraded as part of PowerStoreOS upgrade. If the cluster had any of these installed before the OS upgrade, they are out of date if the major and minor versions are different.

Example: PowerStore Health Check for 4.0.x and 4.1.x is not compatible with PowerStoreOS v4.3.x. 

Resolution

  • Identify the software component identified by the NDU_SOFTWARE_COMPONENT_STATUS_INCOMPATIBLE alert
  • Download the supported version of the component that matches the newly installed PowerStoreOS release
  • Install the updated component on the array to restore compatibility
  • Rerun the health check to confirm the incompatibility condition clears

This minor alert is benign; however, it is recommended to upgrade the identified PowerStore software component packages to ensure system stability. 

Sometimes, a compatible PowerStore software component package may not be available. When this occurs, the storage administrator can acknowledge the alert until a compatible upgrade becomes available.
