Creating SAP HANA Copies with AppSync

Full Checklist
  1. Open AppSync GUI
  2. Navigate to Copy Management
  • Select Copies, Service Plan
  • Select Application, SAP HANA
  1. Click Create Service Plan
  • Select Template
  • Select Bronze
  • Enter “Bronze_SAP_HANA” name
  • Take default for a few steps
  • Select “On Demand” schedule
  1. Highlight Service Plan to get details
  2. Subscribe SAP HANA system to Service Plan
  • Navigate to Copy Management
  • Select Service Plan, Copies
  • Select Application, SAP HANA
  • Select “UFS” system
  • Click Create Copy with Plan
  • Select “Data Protection”
  • Click “Select” and choose “Bronze_SAP_HANA”
  • Finishing the wizard will subscribe the system and run the service plan to create the copy.
  • Click the “Close” button to be returned to the SAP HANA systems menu.
  1. Mount a copy
  • Drill down into “UFS” SAP HANA system
  • Highlighting the copy shows more details about it on the right side pane
  • Selecting the checkbox allows user to mount the copy
  • Going through the wizard, user selects mount operation of “Mount on standalone server”
  • User can review tooltips for more information by hovering over the “I’s”
  • Finishing the wizard will perform the mount operation and user can review the steps while they execute
  1. Review copy status and unmount
  • Check box next to copy and click “Unmount” to unmount the copy form the mount host
  • User can review status as it runs
  • Once wizard is complete, user can refresh copy screen and see that “Mount Status” is now “Not Mounted”
  1. User expires copy
  • The checkbox next to copy is selected and “Expire” is chosen from the “More” menu box to remove the copy from AppSync and delete it from the underlying storage array or appliance
  • Once wizard is complete, the copy is gone from the copies page
