Symptoms
When connecting multiple monitors using a daisy chain connection with a USB Type-C connection to an Intel based MacBook Pro. No video will not be shown on the monitors.
Cause
Intel based MacBook Pros do not support daisy-chaining monitors with a USB Type-C connection.
Resolution
External Monitor Video
The following methods can be used to get external monitor video from an Intel MacBook Pro:
- A Thunderbolt connection from the MacBook Pro to the first monitor. Then a Thunderbolt connection to the first monitor from the second monitor. Both Extended and Duplicate mode can be used.
- A Thunderbolt connection from the MacBook Pro to the first monitor. Then a USB Type-C connection to the first monitor from the second monitor. Both Extended and Duplicate mode can be used.
- A Thunderbolt connection from the MacBook Pro to the first monitor. Then a DisplayPort (DP) connection to the first monitor from the second monitor. Only Duplicate mode can be used.
