Avamar: RMCP non rimuove i checkpoint

Symptoms

Durante le attività di manutenzione, i checkpoint non vengono rimossi. Inoltre, se Avamar è integrato con Data Domain, anche le snapshot non scadono.

In Data Domain, le snapshot non scadono automaticamente. Devono essere scaduti manualmente:

Un altro comportamento osservato è la lentezza durante l'esecuzione di comandi su Avamar Server. Nonostante il server non esegua attività o backup, la media di carico rimane elevata.

 

 

Cause

Diversi fattori possono causare questo comportamento. Tutti i problemi sono stati identificati dopo un analisi approfondita dei processi (utilizzando top o ps -ef) in esecuzione sull'Avamar Server. Alcuni scenari includono:

  • Vecchi processi Perl
  • Replica personalizzata obsoleta
  • Report personalizzati
  • Vecchi processi Avtar

Resolution

1. Accedere all'Avamar Server come amministratore, passare alla radice:

su -

2. Eseguire i seguenti comandi per analizzare a fondo i processi:

top
ps -aux --forest
ps -ef

 

AVVERTENZA: Non interrompere alcun processo in caso di dubbio.

 

3. Una volta identificato il processo, terminarlo utilizzando l'ID del processo (PID):

kill <pid>

4. Se il processo non viene terminato, forzarlo:

kill -9 <pid>

5. I comandi dovrebbero riprendere a funzionare più velocemente.

6. Eseguire RMCP:

avmaint rmcp --full --ava

7. I due comandi seguenti mostrano di nuovo correttamente il checkpoint:

cplist --full
mccli checkpoint show --verbose

8. Accertarsi che le istantanee su Data Domain mostrino lo stato "expired".
