Installing the Alienware Command Center Software

Option 1 ‐ Use SupportAssist to ensure you have the latest version of AWCC

1. Ensure the computer is connected to the Internet.
2. Plug in your Alienware device.
3. Type SupportAssist in the Search box and open the application.
   NOTE: If SupportAssist is not installed, download it from the SupportAssist for Home PCs information page. Administrative rights are required for installation.
4. On the Home tab, select Update Software.
5. Click Start.
6. Install what it recommends.
7. After installation, restart your computer.

Option 2 ‐ Manually install AWCC to ensure you have the latest version

1. Ensure the computer is connected to the Internet.
2. Browse to the Dell PC & Tablet Accessories Product Menu page.
3. Select the model number of your Alienware Gaming peripheral (it may be listed on the bottom of the device).
4. Select the Drivers & downloads tab
5. Select the operating system installed on your computer using the drop-down menu under Operating system.
6. Select Download to the right of Alienware Command Center 5.x or 6.x ‐ Full Installer (do not close the browser window).
7. Depending on your browser, you get different options. The following steps are based on using the Chrome browser.
8. Once the Alienware Command Center is downloaded, select the file listed at the upper-right of the screen to start the installation process, and follow the prompts.
9. After installation, restart your computer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: It says "no AlienFX devices detected" — what do I do?

This message is actually pretty normal right after a fresh install. Here's what's going on and how to fix it, starting with the easiest fix first.

1. Just wait for a few mins. The app may just be downloading additional software or starting its background service for the first time, so waiting a few minutes and then clicking the FX tab is often all that's needed.
2. Restart the computer. A full shut down and restart often clears the message.
3. Repair or Reset the AWCC application.
   1. Type Add or remove programs in the Search box and open the application.
   2. Locate the listing for Alienware Command Center.
   3. Right click the three dots to the far right side and select Advanced options.
   4. Check to see if there is a Reset section, if so, select Repair or Reset.
4. Set the AWCCService to Automatic
   1. Press and hold the Windows key and then press the R key to open the Run dialog.
   2. In the Run box type services.msc and press Enter.
   3. Find the AWCCService.
   4. Right-click on the service and select Properties.
   5. In the General tab, find the Startup type dropdown.
   6. Select Automatic from the dropdown menu.
   7. Click Apply, then OK.

1. Press and hold the Windows key and then press the R key to open the Run dialog.
2. In the Run box type winver and press Enter.

Once you see your version, here's how to interpret it for Alienware Command Center:

Alienware Command Center requires Windows 10 version 1709 or newer (also written as the Fall Creators Update).

• If it says Windows 11 — you're good.
• If it says Windows 10 and the version number is 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903, 1909, 20H1, 20H2, 21H1, 21H2, 22H2, or any later number — you're good.
• If it says Windows 10 with a version number lower than 1709 (like 1703 or 1607) — you'd need to update Windows first.
