iDRAC: Basic UI Features

Overview of commonly used Web User Interface features

System Tab:

Overview:
    • This gives the status of every heath sensor.
    
Inventory:
    • This gives the hardware and firmware inventory.

Storage Tab:

Overview:
    • This gives the current configuration of each component in the storage chain.

Configuration Tab:

Virtual Console:
    • Able to view and configure settings for Virtual Console.

Virtual Media:
    • Able to view and configure settings for Virtual Media.

License:
    • Import Licenses here.

System Settings:
    • This is where you configure everything for Alerts.
    • This is also where you configure some hardware settings like Cooling.

BIOS Configuration:
    • Able to view and configure the entire BIOS on Configuration > BIOS settings.
    • Remote Flea drain under Miscellaneous Settings > Power Cycle Request

Storage Configuration:
    • Able to view and configure Storage on Configuration > Storage Configuration.
    • Able to delete and Add virtual disks, create hot spares and so on.
    • This supports doing tasks like Check consistency and Reconfiguring Virtual disks to add disks.
 

Note: Unlike OMSA, some of these jobs may require a reboot to perform.

Maintenance Tab:
LC Log:
    • Useful for figuring out the history of the server
    • This provides convenient timestamps going all the way back to the initial ship date.
    • If exported to a physical file, many of the entries have additional verbose details related to configuration.

Job queue:
    • This shows every job that has been run.
    • Useful to know what might be running or why a task like Firmware Update failed.
    • racadm jobqueue delete -i JID_CLEARALL_FORCE
 
Note: On iDRAC9 this also reboots the network stack.


System Update:
    • Processing firmware updates
    • HTTPS pointed to downloads.dell.com is one of the best update methods.

SupportAssist:
    • This can register for phone-home case creation.
    • The primary use is to pull TSR logs.

iDRAC Settings Tab:
Connectivity:
    • Configuring iDRAC Networking information
    • Configuring IPMI Over LAN

Services:
    • Configuring remote protocols and webserver information

Users:
    • Configuring local users and Directory services

IDRAC Help
    • Great to search for something if you are not sure where it is.
    • Accessed in the upper right
