Symptoms
The ConGroup (Consistency Group) abend S0C4-11 occurred in module PDADMIN during stop processing. After that, the user had to use the CANCEL command to stop the ConGroup task.

Cause
This is due to a software issue.
AbendS0C4 in PDADMIN follows lengthy thrashing between PDADMIN and CGNODE during shutdown processing.
On a busy system where heartbeats are missed and subsequent Cross-system Communication (CSC) recovery pings are common, shutdown processing can result in control rapidly passing between PDADMIN and CGNODE. Then the normal shutdown could not stop the ConGroup task. The abend eventually occurred due to inaccessible storage.
Resolution
Permanent Fix:
- For Mainframe Enablers 8.5, Program Temporary Fix (PTF) SC85021 has been developed to correct the issue. It is available to download from Dell Technologies Online Support.
- For Mainframe Enablers 10.0.0, PTF SCA0012 has been developed to correct the issue. It is available to download from Dell Technologies Online Suppor.t
