Symptoms

Er is vastgesteld dat alle esxi-hosts zich op afzonderlijke back-up-VLAN's en beheer-VLAN's bevinden. 
 

vProxy-back-up mislukt met de volgende fout, zoals blijkt uit het back-uplogboek op de NetWorker-server:

Cause

Het is gebleken dat de vProxy alleen een back-up maakt van VM's die zich op dezelfde esxi-host bevinden als zichzelf. Als de vProxy probeert een back-up te maken van een VM op een afzonderlijke esxi-host, kan er geen verbinding worden gemaakt op poort 902, zoals hieronder wordt weergegeven:
  
Could not connect to ESX host esxi_hostname: Failed to connect to server esxi_hostname:902.

Testing connectivity from the vProxy to the esxi host in question using the below command, hangs, and eventually fails to connect, though ping and nslookup, return expected results. 

#curl -kv esxi_hostname:902

Verified the firewall is down on the esxi hosts.

esxcli network firewall set -e false

Verified no layer2 firewall exists, or any firewall between the esxi hosts. 
 

Resolution

Vastgesteld dat de esxi-hosts zich allemaal op afzonderlijke back-up/beheer-VLAN's bevinden en niet kunnen communiceren via poort 902. Moet via poort 902 kunnen communiceren tussen esxi-hosts en vproxy.
