NetWorker 19.12: MFA Integration Provides QR Registration After Every Login

Symptoms

  • NetWorker server is 19.12.x.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) has been enabled for local NetWorker user accounts.
  • The user has successfully registered MFA with the Google Authenticator application; the Time-based One-time Password (TOTP) keys provided by Google Authenticator are working.
  • During each user login, the MFA registration information is provided:

NWUI MFA login provides Registration details after it has already been setup

NOTE: After MFA registration has been completed, subsequent logins for that user should only ask for the TOTP verification code. It should not provide the MFA registration details.

Cause

This was raised to NetWorker engineering.

Resolution

Upgrade to NetWorker 19.13.0.0 (or later).

 

Starting NetWorker 19.13, the MFA user's login does not provide the QR setup details once it is set up. Once configured, subsequent log-ins only ask for the TOTP verification code:
